HOW TO STOP UNCONSCIOUS THOUGHTS THAT ARE ROBBING YOUR SUCCESS

Hi. Anthony Manly, here from selfmanagedbusiness.com. One of the things that you need to be aware of is the unconscious thoughts that rob you of your time and your effort that are just pointless and they’re stopping you from being successful. You’ve got to be aware of them because what you think about expands.

And if you’re constantly thinking negative thoughts, then they’re going to expand. And one of the things that you need to be very conscious of is how you’re spending that time.

So if you’re constantly thinking about work all the time, how have you got time to have some kind of pleasure?

Now, just like a computer, a computer gets to a certain point where the storage level is just beyond or exceeds the limits that you thought possible, and your computer will require more storage.

And what a lot of people do is they’ll either sell their computer and buy a bigger computer that’s got more storage.

Now, if you take that down to a personal level and start to think to yourself, hang on a minute. When I go to work, all I’m thinking about is work. But when I come home, I’m still thinking about work.

How do I stop this unconscious, constant thinking that’s going on that’s robbing me of not only my time but also my success?

One way to achieve that is to compartmentalize your entire life.

Now, what I mean by that is you need to consciously shift your thinking here.

So when you’re at work, you’re working on something. You’re focused on something. You don’t want to be bringing the problems that you might have experienced from home, whether that be a child that might have caused you a little bit of grief in the morning because of what they’ve done.

You might have yelled at your child, and you’re probably still thinking about it, thinking, I wish I had not done that.

What you need to do is think to yourself, okay, that was then, this is now. This is what I need to focus on.  Now, just like anything else, you need to have time out.

So if you’re constantly thinking about the same thing all the time, options won’t come up in your mind as to what you can achieve or get the solution of what you want to achieve.

And the way to do that is to take time out.

So you may have heard some people say that they like to put things into shoe boxes or, like, imaginary boxes, okay, I’ve done that. Let’s put that away. Now, moving on to this particular piece, it’s easier said than done.

However, you need to have that conscious shift in your mind to start thinking about what it is that you truly want when you start changing this shift and you start to say to yourself, well, hang on a minute.

Work stays at work.

My personal life stays as my personal life.

And this is what I want.

It’s a completely different thing because you’re spending time focused on just that specific area.

Now, you’re probably thinking to yourself, Well, how can I achieve this? It’s about building a new habit. Now, you’ve probably heard the adage, that all it takes is 21 days to build a habit. I’m not here to tell you that at all. I think that’s a bit of a ferry, to be honest with you.

It’s about repetition and it’s about setting boundaries and setting times. So start with something small.

So set yourself a specific time of the day whereby you’ll just stop thinking about work, whether that be on the way home, whether that be as soon as you leave the office. It’s whatever it is for you.

Go easy on yourself.

Give yourself some time.

Give yourself some time to mull things over, specifically when you’re making decisions. Because when you’re making important decisions and your mind is crowded by just one thing, work, work, work. As an example, what you’ll find is the decisions you make may not necessarily be the right decisions.

In some instances they may be, in some instances, they may not be.

It all depends.

But what you need to do is you need to have that downtime, be good to yourself and take time out to create that space that you need to achieve what it is you want to achieve that just will not be successful.
