3 SIMPLE CORE TIPS FOR ACHIEVING YOUR GOAL

Good day. Anthony Manly here from selfmanagedbusiness.com. Today I want to talk to you about saying no more often, and more often than not, most of us sit back and we say yes. Ask when we mean no.

And what I mean by that is that you need to stop being a rescuer. You need to stop saying yes just to be liked. You also need to stop saying yes when realistically it’s their problem, not your problem. And just be that listening ear.

One of the key things that you’ll find is that when you continually say yes, it’s going to impact your success week in, and week out.

Now, one of the key things that you should set up is some serious boundaries around your time.

Now, when we say serious boundaries, what I mean by that is set yourself a calendar. 

Let people get access to that calendar and then have somebody, whether it be yourself or somebody else on your team, screen those people that are going to take up your time so that you clearly understand what it is that they’re taking up your time for.

Now, if you’re the type of person who’s sifting through those and thinking, okay, well, yeah, I can help that person, I can help this person, I just want you to think about this. 80% of your time is taken up by 20% of your actions.

So if, for example, you’re spending a lot of time around people that just require some assistance or maybe some confidence boosting or perhaps maybe somebody else could give them the answer on the Internet, then it’s not the most productive use of your time.

And I could seriously say that you’re probably sitting back to yourself and saying to yourself at the end of the week, why am I not becoming successful? 

Why am I not achieving what I want to achieve?

What you need to do is to sit back and take three simple actions.

1. SHINY OBJECTS DISTRACTION

So the first one of these tips is to understand where shiny objects might be detracting you from your current goal or what you’re wanting to achieve.

Shiny object syndrome is one of the worst.

I used to be the worst at it. I used to think, oh wow, here’s this latest gadget. I need to know this.

Realistically, it’s detracting from your time.

2. UNDERSTAND WHERE THE TIME IS GOING

The second thing is to understand where that time is going and what it’s been put on. So it could just be going on drama. 

That’s unnecessary.

3. UNDERSTAND WHERE YOUR TEAM IS SPENDING THEIR TIME

The third tip is to understand where your team is spending their time.

It could be on unrelated pieces of information. It could be on unrelated projects, it could be on unrelated things that are just not bringing in the money for your business.

So there are three core tips that you can take with you and just focus on. I will create a video and talk to you about shiny object syndrome and how to avoid it, to keep you on track so that you know which projects that you should be doing now to finish up. I just want to say that most of us don’t have time problems.

We have integrity problems with ourselves. We don’t understand that when it’s time to say no. And when we say no, we mean no. And it’s like, that is not going to take me to where I want to be.

It’s very difficult when you first start this exercise, but what you need to do is train yourself to say no when you’ve probably previously said yes. 

Whether that be a friend who’s going through a hard time, you may not necessarily be the right person. You’re not being wrong or rude to that person. You’re essentially saying, well, that’s my boundary. My time is important and I need to make it important.

So next time that you’re wanting to say yes to something, really think back to yourself, understand, is this an effective use of my time and taking me to where I want to go by the end of the week?
