RIGHT STRATEGY IN BUILDING A BUSINESS

Hi, Anthony Manly here from selfmanagedbusiness.com. Isn’t it interesting how as business coaches, we’ve always thought we’ve got a problem, whether it leads or it or it is money, whether it be a delivery problem or a conversion problem, we always think we’ve got a problem, but it’s always never the problem that we think it is? I’m just going to tell you a quick story of when I used to play squash competitively when I was a little bit younger. And one of the key things that I always blamed was my racket for not being able to hit the ball properly or miss hitting the ball. 

And it wasn’t until I engaged the coach who came along and studied my game and looked at the way I was playing the game, and when I would get myself to a certain position on the court and I would go to hit that ball, I would always either miss hit it or I would be not in the right position to do so. 

I would always end up blaming my racket or blaming myself. It’s like you’re just hopeless. Like, why are you unable to hit the ball, now when the coach broke it down, he said to me, go, Anthony, it’s not your equipment, it’s you, it’s how you’re approaching the game. Business strategies.

And one of the key things that he highlighted to me was, you’ve got an implementation problem, you’ve got a planning problem. And when I sat back and thought about it, hang on a minute. What do you mean by an implementation problem?  What is business strategy and why is it important?

I’ve been playing squash competitively for quite some time, and I’ve been doing really well at it, and now you’re telling me that I’ve got this implementation problem or I’ve got this positioning problem.

When I sat back and thought about it, I thought, hang on a minute. 

My strategy going into the game has always been the same. And whenever I got my body in a certain position to hit a high shot, what would happen was I either missed the ball because I was hitting over the top of the ball or under the ball because the ball was going too high above my head.

And he said you’re just not planning how you should take on these shots before they occur. 

So what he sat back and said to me was, you need to start thinking about or strategizing how you’re going to achieve this.

Now, that was just a quick story about what had happened to me.

And if you take that back into business, what we have is an implementation and a planning problem in business. And I see a lot of new business coaches starting who they think to themselves, well, if I just start something and, yeah, it’ll generate me leads or generate me income coming in.

It’s not the case if you think of a builder. A builder is not going to start building a house without a plan and a plan. How can you build a house just like a business?

The second part of this is you’ve got to keep it simple, which then leads to me, or leads to me explaining to you the reason why I started Simple Smart Coach. 

So we have two parts to our business. Business level strategy.

Plus we have also got  Simple Smart Coach, which is for people that are growing and scaling their businesses.

Now, simply you’ve got to keep it simple.

There’s no complicated way to build a business, although a lot of people do make it complicated and you’ve got to do it smartly.

So you’ve got to have the right strategy.

Now, you can’t be everything to everybody. And what I’m about to walk you through is a high-level understanding of what we deliver at Simple Smart Coach.

So here at Simple Smart Coach, the way we approach it is what you are looking at and most business coaches are like this, they want to acquire the right clients more easily.

Now, when I say clients, I’m not talking about a lead. You’re talking about taking that lead and then converting that lead. Where you need to start is you need to focus on what you’re going to be delivering to your ideal prospect.

So what is the solution that you’re offering to that particular problem and what kind of impact can you make to help them achieve their desired goals?

And this is more around your Intellectual Property.

So it’s understanding, well, how can I unpack what’s in my head so that I can deliver the solution that somebody’s looking for?

Once you’ve got that and some of the processes and the strategies that we take you through will help you unpack that.

Once you’ve got that unpacked, it’s been a case of understanding, how am I going to market my particular solution?

And what a lot of people do is they think it’s all about marketing, I’ve got to market this, everyone’s going to want it. 

But it’s not necessarily the case.

It’s more understanding how I am going to position my solution to the right ideal client. 

Once you’ve done that, it’s more about attracting the right clientele to your solution.

Once you understand that, it’s pretty easy to convert the clients that you’re attracting to you. Business strategy and transformation.

Now, I’ve just told you about a three-step process, which is understanding your intellectual property, like getting it out of your head. I’ve also spoken about, well, how am I going to market this?

Like, am I going to take this ideal prospect or ideal client from where they are currently to where they should be and then attract your ideal client and convert them into a sale of selling what your intellectual property is about?
