9 STRATEGIES FOR ACCOUNTABILITY

Hi, Anthony Manly here from selfmanagedbusiness.com. Today I’m going to talk to you about strategies for accountability. And the brutal fact is that you are paid as a coach for the results you get from your clients, not the time, as per when you look at someone who’s got a full-time job.

Now, when we look at it that way, you need to be very task-oriented because without being task orientated, you’re never going to achieve your goals. So let me walk you through nine strategies for accountability.

  1. FIND AN ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER

So the number one strategy, the first strategy is to find yourself an accountability partner.

What we tend to do as business coaches is we tend to do busy work. We con ourselves into thinking, well, busy position, we’re doing the right thing, we’re headed in the right direction. But busy work is not profit-generating. So you need to remind yourself of that rule.

So find yourself an accountability partner, somebody who you trust and somebody who you know that’s going to keep you accountable for the tasks that you want to achieve to achieve your goals.

  1. KEEP YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE TO CREATE A VISION

The second key step to keeping yourself accountable is to create a vision.

So if you can’t see or feel or even put yourself out there into the goals that you want to achieve, then you’re going to struggle to achieve them. So vision is everything.

  1. TAKE ACTION

The third key is to take action.

So you want to be persistent and purposeful, you just want to take that action that leads you to success. And what a lot of people fail to do is to fail to do that, to take that action. Just make it meaningful. And if you just work on taking action at least once per day towards your goals, then you’re more likely to achieve them.

That’s also being task orientated.

  1. BE FLEXIBLE

The fourth step is to be flexible.

So what do we mean by being flexible?

A lot of people become inflexible. They’re thinking, well, that’s just the goal that I want to achieve and I’m going to do everything in my power to achieve that goal.

What you need to do is understand that at times you may be wanting to achieve that goal, but there may be some points around it that are probably not going to get you where you want to go.

So in other words, if you want to be a billionaire yet you’ve got the mindset of an employee, then there’s something that’s going to stop you from getting there and I think it’s pretty obvious what that is.

So you need to be flexible to the point of saying, well, hang on a minute, I need to change direction, I need to change tact or I need more tactics to achieve this specific strategy.

So the fourth thing is to be flexible.

  1. MANAGE YOURSELF

The fifth thing is you need to manage yourself.

So you need to be in control of yourself.

So you need to be managed. Your mental, physical, and your emotional well-being, including your spiritual well-being.

Whether you’re into stuff or not, you still need to manage yourself and how you approach day to day. Because if you don’t and you let it get out of control, it will have a vast impact on what you’re wanting to achieve.

  1. BE A LIFETIME LEARNER

The sixth thing is to be a lifetime learner.

So what I mean by being a lifetime learner, is you’ve got to have some kind of plan in place of things you’re going to learn.

So if you need answers, you’re going to have to go out and ask the questions. You need to learn what those answers are all about. You need to focus on success-focused material.

If you’re focused on the news every day, what are you going to get? You’re just going to be focused on negative things. You need to start focusing on successful things that can keep your mind focused and also inspire you to keep your business healthy.

So what are the new types of things that are happening within your business so that you can move? You’ve probably seen many businesses out there, whether that be a local solicitor’s office or an accountant’s office.

They don’t seem to change. Nothing changes because they’re doing the same thing over and over.

You need to learn. And a lot of industries these days, expect people to go out and do additional courses to keep up to date with the latest trends, the changes in government, and legislation that are going on.

However, when it comes to coaching, you need to be on top and understand and help people with the latest marketing tactics, for example, or strategies that are going to get them results.

Whether that be to attract more clients, convert sorry, attract more leads, convert more clients, or just to lead a lifestyle from their business.

So that’s the 6th thing.

  1. BE TRUTHFUL TO YOURSELF

The 7th thing is to be truthful to yourself.

You need to hold yourself to some kind of standards. So what I mean by truthful is you’re not going to achieve anything unless you’re honest and focused on those goals.

They become diluted. And so what I mean by diluted is there’s a lot of people out there that will fill you up full of motivation. You’re like, wow, I can achieve this. That’s what they’ve done to you. They’ve motivated you.

However, you need to remain honest with yourself so that you can achieve the outcomes that you want. So if you’re true to yourself and you say no to the things that you should be saying no to and yes, the things that you should be saying yes to, and you are just centered within yourself and you know that that’s the right thing in you, then go for it.

That’s what we mean by being truthful. So that’s the 7th thing.

  1. TAKE RISKS AND TAKE CALCULATED RISK

The 8th thing is you need to take risks, but you must take calculated risks.

So you need to look at both sides of the coin. So you need to say to yourself, what is the risk of this working versus what is the risk of this not working? And can I live with it not working? Or can I live with it working?

So you need to look at both sides of the coin.

When we say calculated risk, we don’t mean take high-risk stuff. So in other words, if you’ve got, say, $100,000 in the bank, you don’t want to be going out and saying, I’m going to put all $100,000 straight on Facebook ads.

It’s not the right thing to be doing for you potentially depending on where you are unless you know for a fact that you’re going to return some kind of sales on that ad spend. And I’m just using that as an example.

But when you’re taking risks, make sure they’re calculated risks. Understand both sides of the fence and don’t be led down that path. That, hey, yeah, look, we all need to get out of our comfort zones and we need to take some risks.

But what I’m saying is don’t take a stupid risk and take risks that are not calculated. Calculate your risk.

  1. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH A SUPPORT TEAM

The 9th thing is to surround yourself with a support team,

So people that conspire to your success, people that are successful and want to see you succeed. And we’ll also pull you up when you need to be pulled up or also knock you down when you need to be knocked down because some people get a little bit out of control.

But that support group is always there so that you can ask questions, bounce ideas off, and also look to them to get you through the tough times.

And let’s face it, we’re not all bulletproof. And you need to make sure that when you have a group you also contribute to that group, realize that you’re not the only person in that group, and also assist others when they need assistance.

So they’re the nine strategies to remain accountable. And if you’d like to know more, I’m going to publish more around remaining accountable, but also getting you how should I put this? Becoming more productive by remaining accountable.

So become task driven. So on a final note, make sure that you create a plan and stick to that plan.

Because most high achievers stick to their plan once they’ve done it, and they will become successful.

They know that they’ll become successful if they stick to their plan. I suggest that you do the same. So if you want to start to learn how to do a plan, then we’ll reach out. We’ve got specific training around this, and I’m more than happy to assist you with that training.
